SBRI Healthcare Programme – Funding offer launched for Urgent and Emergency Care
SBRI Healthcare are pleased to announce that the next funding competition will launch on 15 July 2020.
Companies and organisations are being invited to bid for funding to develop solutions to challenges in Urgent and Emergency Care, including the following sub-categories:
Reducing demand
- Recognising differences for adults vs children and young people
- Recognising that respiratory conditions in all ages account for a rapidly growing proportion of attendances
Reducing the length of stay in the Emergency Department
- By more efficient triage, streaming and treatment
- By more efficient discharge or admission to the hospital
SBRI Healthcare is funded by NHS England and NHS Improvement to develop innovative products and services that address unmet health needs. The competition runs in two phases (subject to budget availability):
- Phase 1 is intended to show the technical feasibility of the proposed concept. The development contracts placed will be for a maximum of 6 months and up to £100,000 (Inc. VAT) per project
- Phase 2 contracts are intended to develop and evaluate prototypes or demonstration units from the more promising technologies in Phase 1. Only those projects that have completed Phase 1 successfully will be eligible for Phase 2 (12 months and up to £1m per project)
This competition has been supported West Midlands AHSN and Health Innovation Manchester. Applications from any country in the European Union, including associated countries for EU Research and Innovation, are welcomed although projects must show a clear health benefit to the UK.
The deadline for applications is 27 August 2020 at 1 pm and details on the competition and how to register for the briefing event will be available on the SBRI Healthcare website.
