Nominations open for the 2019 Greater Manchester Clinical Research Awards

Nominations are now open for the 2019 Greater Manchester Clinical Research Awards.

Now in their seventh year, the annual awards are designed to recognise our region’s hard-working and high-achieving researchers, research teams, R&D departments and other research support functions.

There are 12 categories to acknowledge the valuable achievements made by individuals and teams in research delivery.

This year’s awards are in association with Syneos Health, sponsors of our Research Team of the Year category.

In line with the latest NIHR strategic objectives, some of our regular categories have been tweaked and some brand new categories have been introduced.

Once again, we are appealing to the Greater Manchester research community to nominate individuals or teams who deserve recognition. This is what you need to know…

How to nominate: You can nominate someone by filling in this form and emailing it to crngmcomms@mft.nhs.uk. Alternatively, you can nominate online by filling in this Google Form.

Award categories: The 12 categories are listed below. Full descriptions and the criteria of what we’re looking for in each category can be viewed here.

Eligibility: The awards are open to all people or teams who receive NIHR funding and/or support NIHR Portfolio studies. We are looking for achievements and successes made since April 2018.

Deadline: Entries must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 20 September 2019.

Judging: After assessing all of the entries, a judging panel will select a shortlist of finalists in each category. Finalists, and the person(s) who nominated them, will be notified by email.

Awards ceremony: Each finalist will be invited to our ceremony at the Radisson Blu hotel in Manchester city centre on the evening of Thursday 7 November 2019.

Debbie Vinsun, Clinical Research Network Greater Manchester Chief Operating Officer, said: “It has been a pleasure to see the awards grow in popularity every year since we first launched them back in 2013.

“This year, we have altered some categories and brought in some brand new ones to reflect the renewed NIHR objectives that we are all working hard to meet and exceed.

“As always, our panel is looking for examples of people who have surpassed expectations – individuals or teams who have gone beyond their regular duties or beaten their targets.

“But we also need to know exactly how they’ve done this. So when nominating a person or a team, please give specific examples and explain precisely why they deserve recognition.

“We look forward to seeing the nominations drop in!”
