MatNeoSIP Launch Event: Optimisation and Stabilisation of the Preterm Infant

Online event

The Greater Manchester and Eastern Cheshire Patient Safety Collaborative (GMEC) will be holding a launch event in collaboration with the Northwest Operational Delivery Network (NWODN).

Eight local maternity system providers will be working together with Health Innovation Manchester as the host AHSN and the NWODN on this NHSE&I commissioned safety improvement work.  The aim being the optimisation and stabilisation of the preterm infant.

The improvement work will involve seven key interventions which are clinically proven to reduce morbidity and mortality, resulting in significantly improved outcomes for our preterm babies.

The 2 interventions that the Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) will focus on initially will be Normothermia and Optimal Cord Management.  The remaining 5 will be implemented in the following months.

The launch event will provide an opportunity for the GMEC Maternity system optimisation teams to:

  • Understand the 7 key intervention on the preterm perinatal optimisation pathway which aims to reduce morbidity and mortality, and improved outcomes for preterm babies.
  • Listen to the experiences of women and families we work with.
  • Understand the importance of having a ‘perinatal team’ culture with shared goals and responsibilities
  • Work together to share ideas and best practice around the two interventions
  • Improve understanding of quality improvement (QI) in practice using tools to implement improvement.
  • Expectations of the next 12 months for the MatNeoSIP and the offer of support.

Join us virtually for the MatNeoSIP Launch event on Wednesday 27th April 2022, 13:00- 16:00 via Teams.
