Research and Academia

Health Innovation Manchester’s Academic Office is continuously connecting partners to world-leading research expertise through a ‘One Manchester’ approach and maximising the expertise and know-how of our four Universities to address health and social care needs that provides better quality of care to patients.

Our main aims are to:

  • Support and invest in research and education to ensure we grow a sustainable infrastructure
  • Collaborate and create toolkits to benchmark, improve and widen the impact of research globally
  • Actively participate in education and training, innovation, research and partnerships to improve the health and social care across GM

We have a thriving programme of research activities across the seven domains of research excellence:

These are supported by two cross-cutting themes – digital and precision health. Over the last four years, we have invested over £3.5m in domain research projects.

We are working with local research partners to focus activity on addressing the health and social care priorities, as well as to secure further funding and advance translational research delivery at the frontline. By harnessing our world-leading research activity to address health inequalities and working more closely with frontline clinicians, we deliver major benefits for our population. Through our devolved health and social care system, we can support researchers to accelerate discoveries through routine clinical practice and ultimately improve health outcomes in this region and beyond.
