Health Innovation Manchester’s Annual Impact Report 24-25 Showcases Global Partnerships and Local Impact

Health Innovation Manchester (HInM) has published its Annual Impact Report for 2024-25, showcasing a year of significant progress, strengthened partnerships, and global collaboration – all with the shared goal of improving health outcomes and tackling inequalities for our citizens, whilst unlocking economic opportunities for life sciences across Greater Manchester (GM).
HInM, now in its eighth year of operation, delivers a broad portfolio of innovation activities across multiple care settings, population health and disease areas – from early-stage discovery to solution development and deployment of innovation at scale.
This report highlights impacts from priority programmes of work and other notable projects. Impacts highlighted in the report include:
- Launching a cardiovascular renal-metabolic (CVRM) mission to harness the potential of global innovation to address a £2.5bn challenge in GM
- Further development of an Obesity pathway transformation programme to better support the 600,000 people living with obesity in GM.
- Wider innovation in population health programmes such as the healthcare inequalities programme (InHip)
- Enhancing the GM Care Record to inform patient care including a new app, digital care plans in dementia and end of life care and access for community pharmacists.
- Developing the Secure Data Environment for Research & Academia
- Building a digital future for Primary Care
- HInM generating over £20m in industry investment into GM
- The GM Health Innovation Accelerator programme securing £18m in Innovate UK and industry co-investment
- Greater Data: Launching a new data-led innovation service to strengthen industry and academic partnerships
- Support for innovators – engagement with small to medium-sized enterprises with innovations that are of potential benefit to the NHS.
The report also highlights a range of other projects supported alongside organisations such as the Health Innovation Network, the Academic Health Science Centre, the NHS GM Digital Transformation Office and the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration Greater Manchester (ARC-GM).
