The focus of this competition round is exclusively on primary care focused research that contribute to the advancement and implementation of cancer diagnostics, therapeutics and supportive care. Proposals for funding need to address one or more of the following domain priorities:

  • Develop and evaluate high impact cancer innovations that improve early diagnosis, survival, care, and the patient experience
  • Act to reduce inequalities
  • Stimulate, support and champion Greater Manchester research, education and innovation
  • Align research, education, and clinical care missions to improve patient outcomes and population health

For this year’s competition, the emphasis and priority – while still reflecting the above domain objectives – will be for primary care focused research that contribute to the domain’s ambition with a particular emphasis on early career investigators or allied health professionals leading on projects that would facilitate continuity of research or a theme linked to the seed funding that MAHSC awards.

Applications for this latest MAHSC funding call will be accepted from Wednesday 20th November and will close on Sunday 5th January 2025 and applicants are able to apply for a maximum of £20,000 per project, which must have a focus on Primary Care Cancer Research.
