Re-imagining North Manchester
Putting digital and data at the heart of health and care transformation and the wider civic and economic regeneration of North Manchester (this project has now closed).
This project has now closed and is no longer in operation.
Health and care partners in Manchester are working in close collaboration to accelerate the transformation of care and support the population of North Manchester and surrounding areas to improve their health and wellbeing, strengthen community resilience, and create opportunities for greater prosperity by effectively deploying and utilising proven and innovative digital and data solutions.
This is part of the £600m redevelopment plan for the North Manchester General Hospital site and associated campus. HInM worked with a leading digital consultancy to develop a digital transformation strategy for North Manchester that maximises digital technology and better use of data, combined with a thorough understanding of people’s experience of care, can support service model integration, expand inclusion and contribute to reducing health inequalities.
Developing the strategy involved significant engagement with clinicians, citizens, influencers and policy makers, as well as applying deep digital transformation and thought leadership expertise. The digital and data strategy will facilitate and accelerate more integrated working between services, expanding access to a wider range of support and improving the effectiveness of the interventions on offer, to deliver a wellness-focused, seamless and consistent user experience.
A big part of developing the strategy involved mapping end-to-end citizen journeys to understand the critical points at which people find the greatest difficulties to manage their health and wellbeing in the context of current service design and availability, and linked these ‘pain points’ to the health-related behaviors and outcomes that they influence. We then worked with citizens to co-produce the digital solutions that could address these challenges, creating opportunities to improve the outcomes associated with them.
The strategy builds on the foundational technological infrastructure and data systems are already in place, as well as the level of new investment needed in technology, processes, culture and business models that are required to deliver full impact.
The methodology that has been produced through the North Manchester work has now been further developed to create a digital and data blueprint that can be applied to other neighbourhoods and localities across GM, which will be a key area of development for HInM in the next stages of development.
