Health Innovation Manchester shortlisted for two awards at HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2026

MedSIP programme shortlisted for two HSJ Patient Safety Awards

The Medicines Safety Improvement Programme (MedSIP), focused on improving chronic non-cancer pain management and reducing harm from opioids, has been shortlisted for two HSJ Patient Safety Awards.

The programme has been recognised in the following categories:

• Best Use of Integrated Care and Partnership Working in Patient Safety Award
• Patient Involvement in Safety Award

Delivered by the NHS England Medicines Safety Improvement Team in collaboration with Patient Safety Collaboratives, NHSBSA, more than 27 Integrated Care Systems, and a range of health, non-health and lived experience partners, the shortlist highlights the strength of partnership working and commitment to safer care.

Further recognition has also been given locally, with NHS Greater Manchester shortlisted for both the Best Use of Integrated Care and Partnership Working in Patient Safety Award and the Improving Medicines Safety Award, reflecting the region’s contribution to advancing safer use of medicines.

The achievement reflects a collective effort, with Patient Safety Collaboratives playing a key role in supporting delivery and impact across the system.

The full shortlist was officially announced by HSJ Events on 8 June, with winners to be revealed later this year.
