Learning@Lunch: Towards a Smarter Curriculum – Moving forward as a Faculty
G.53 Chemistry Building, The University of Manchester.
Presented by Caroline Bowsher
The Towards a Smarter Curriculum (TSC) initiative provides an opportunity to review and revise the organisation of teaching and assessment, enhance the student and staff experience and achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery and assessment of all our taught programmes at all levels.
During this learning at lunch session an overview of the underlying principles and recommendations identified through TSC will be presented. There will be an opportunity to discuss TSC from a Faculty wide perspective and the most effective way to support staff in this area.
On completion of attending this session participants should be able to:
- Describe the underlying principles of Towards a Smarter Curriculum;
- Describe the recommendations from the Towards a Smarter Curriculum initiative;
- Discuss how Towards a Smarter Curriculum may be applied to their area of teaching
- Review whether additional support is needed to implement the Towards a Smarter Curriculum from a Programme perspective.
The Academy for Education and Professional Development’s mission is “To ensure consistent high-quality development and delivery of educational programmes with student experience at their heart”. Academy events are open to all those who contribute to the development, delivery and management of FBMH undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development programmes including staff from across the University, the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre and our NHS clinical education partners. The Pedagogy Seminar Series provides a forum to discuss research undertaken and/or pedagogy literature of interest.
