Population health management refers to ways of bringing together health-related data to identify a specific population that health services may then prioritise. But with so many sources of relevant data, and the continuous increase in population what examples of prevention and population health management are we seeing today in Greater Manchester, the North and beyond?
This meetup will explore a few examples of how digital technology is changing and helping population health management.

Speaker Bios
Michelle Uterbrink is a Customer Engineer at Google Cloud, where she works with Public Sector and Life Science customers to design and implement secure, scalable cloud solutions. Prior to joining Google, she conducted research on health care delivery at Weill Cornell Medicine and worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company.
Dr Matthew Atkinson is a Specialty Registrar in Public Health, currently working with NICE on the Evidence Standards Framework for Digital Health Technologies as well as developing a digital offer within the GM Health Checks pilot programme. He is a member of Cohort 2 of the NHS Digital Academy and the Faculty of Clinical Informatics and previously worked as a clinical fellow in health informatics as part of Salford Royal Foundation Trust’s Global Digital Exemplar programme, where he developed a strategy for digitally enabled population health management.
Prof. Niels Peek is a Professor of Health Informatics at the Health eResearch Centre for North England (www.herc.ac.uk), University of Manchester. His background is in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. His research focuses on data-driven informatics methods for healthcare quality improvement, data mining for healthcare, predictive models, and clinical computerised decision support. Since January 2016, he’s directing the Greater Manchester Connected Health City, which is part of the £20M “Health North” investment to establish a learning health system in the North of England.
