An introduction to the Consensus pathway: Management of Uncontrolled Asthma in Adults

The Accelerated Access Collaborative is a national initiative aimed at improving asthma care across the system. The ‘Consensus Pathway’ is intended to be a blueprint guiding clinicians, managers and commissioners on what optimal care should look like across the entire patient journey. It has been developed by a national multidisciplinary group of clinicians, Allied Health Professions (AHPs) and patients.

Consensus pathway: Management of Uncontrolled Asthma in Adults. Improving asthma care across Greater Manchester. This session will introduce the Accelerated Access Collaborative (ACC) consensus pathway for uncontrolled asthma.

Key themes covered include:

  • Why the consensus pathway for uncontrolled asthma has been developed
  • How this will lead to better patient outcomes

Dr. Hitasha Rupani, Consultant Respiratory Physician at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is the key speaker for this event and will be introducing how and why the pathway was developed. Dr. Rupani will also analyse how this work impacts on primary, secondary and tertiary care, and will also be discussing the benefits that this work will have for the patient and the integrated care system.

Lynn Elsey, Lead Respiratory/Severe Asthma Pharmacist at Wythenshawe Hospital, will be providing an introduction into the current level of asthma care across Greater Manchester.
