Why Choose the Utilisation Management Unit?

We have been part of the NHS since 2003 and have established a reputation as pioneers in the field of clinically-led analytics. Since creating and developing the national arrangements now known as ‘Care and Resource Utilisation,’ we have become trusted partners to health and care commissioners and providers across the UK and Europe. Successfully enabling improvements to patient flow, patient care and patient outcomes in many differently structured health and care systems facing unique challenges.

As you would expect with a clinically-led NHS organisation, we have an intrinsic ‘patient first’ ethos that underpins everything we do and the credibility to successfully engage all stakeholders (particularly clinicians and patients) in meaningful dialogue to identify issues, recommend appropriate actions and facilitate cost-effective and sustainable improvement.

As a not-for profit organisation, we pride ourselves on offering a high quality and affordable option for health and care commissioners and providers who would benefit from specialist clinical analytics expertise, additional support, and an independent viewpoint to establish a single point of truth and accelerate improvements in patient care and patient outcomes.

We also appreciate the capacity challenges and the need to avoid disruption to business as usual whether that be within a hospital ward, to a particular service, or internal teams who process and manage organisational data.  We are sensitive to this and seek to minimise the impact by being upfront and clear on what resources and information will be required from clients and when, as well as capitalising on our access to national data sets through our existing agreements with NHS England.

Our bespoke ‘without walls’ approach enables us to tailor support to the needs of organisations, the Board, departments and clinical teams to sustainably improve patient outcomes, patient experience and patient pathways across a health and care system. We take care to ensure that we build on existing good practices and improvements, working in partnership with executives and other external agencies.

All our clients are allocated an account manager who will act as a regular point of contact and develop an in-depth understanding of your specific needs and terms of reference are mutually agreed for every piece of work, so that you know exactly what to expect. We will also visit you to talk through complex analyses and recommendations.
