Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Diagnostics and Technology Accelerator

Using innovative technology to improve diagnosis and treatment is a key driver for the NHS. In vitro diagnostics (IVD) and medical devices will play an increasing role in caring for an ageing population with high levels of chronic disease.

The Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) Diagnostics and Technology Accelerator (DiTA) has been created to catalyse evidence generation for commercial IVDs and medtech through delivering:

  • Consultancy- We will harness the expertise within our team and our networks to identify the evidence gaps and research questions that address the needs of industry, healthcare and the wider NHS.
  • Match making- Having identified and prioritised the key research questions, DiTA can convene the right team to deliver the shared goals.
  • Impact- DiTA will work with industry partners to ensure barriers to clinical implementation will be overcome, and disseminate findings to key stakeholders in the commissioning process.

For industry, working with DiTA offers access to the significant resources of the UK’s largest clinical academic campus, from informatics and imaging to genomics and pathology. To facilitate access to this resource, we provide a simple process to manage the assessment of new IVDs/ medtech, from setting up clinical studies through to incorporating them into patient care.

Being part of Health Innovation Manchester allows a seamless route to adoption of novel technologies.
