Optimising neonatal outcomes – GMEC Patient Safety Collaborative Maternity and Neonatal Learning Event 3
Greater Manchester and Eastern Cheshire Patient Safety Collaborative (GMECPSC) held their third Maternity and Neonatal Learning event.
The event, run in partnership with the North West Coast PSC and taking place in Haydock, focused on optimising neonatal outcomes and explored the case for PReCePT, Preventing Cerebral Palsy in Preterm Labour.
PReCePT is an evidence-based, cost-effective project which been designed to help reduce cerebral palsy in babies through the increased antenatal administration of magnesium sulphate (MgSO4) to mothers during preterm labour, at a cost of £1 per individual dose.
It also included a poignant patient story of nenoatal care from a mother, information about signing up to Life QI and the chance to collaborate and share learning across the system.
