The search is on for inspirational examples of businesses, third sector organisations and the NHS working together to provide great patient care in the North of England.

Nominations are now open for the 2019 NHS in the North Excellence in Supply Awards, which are open to any business which currently supplies goods, works or services to NHS trusts in the North.

The NHS in the North Excellence in Supply Awards are organised by the NHS Supply Chain Northern Customer Board and the Innovation Agency, the Academic Health Science Network for the North West Coast.

Health Innovation Manchester, the organisation responsible for accelerating proven innovation into Greater Manchester’s health and social care services, is co-sponsor of the event along with Yorkshire and Humber AHSN.

Last year, Manchester-based scheduling company Malinko Software (pictured) was named Supplier of the Year at the awards for their partnership with Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, applying their expertise to the challenge of caseload scheduling and managing a distributed workforce in NHS community nursing.

Professor Ben Bridgewater, Health Innovation Manchester’s Chief Executive, said: “Collaboration between external partners and the NHS is vital to improving patient care and achieving better value and efficiency.

“Organisations in the North are proving the value of collaboration with new initiatives and excellent outcomes and I look forward to celebrating some of these partnerships at the awards.”

The deadline for nominations is 28 June. Nominations can be entered by visiting https://www.innovationagencynwc.nhs.uk/excellence-in-supply-awards-2019

Mick Guymer, Chair of the Northern Customer Board, said: “The Excellence in Supply Awards are our opportunity to recognise and celebrate some of the pioneering collaborations between suppliers and the NHS which are having a real impact on the quality of patient care in the North.”

Dr Liz Mear, Chief Executive of the Innovation Agency, said: “Excellence in supply is integral to good quality healthcare, and NHS trusts in our region have established ground-breaking initiatives through excellent relationships with organisations large and small. I look forward to celebrating their successes.”

Andrew Threlfall, Founder Malinko Software, said: “We feel we have uncovered a significant problem that the NHS will want to solve – how NHS organisations can ‘intelligently’ schedule, matching capacity with demand. Our plan is to leverage the success and share Salford’s outcomes and results across the NHS.”
