NHS Salford CCG announces three new funding opportunities
NHS Salford CCG is pleased to announce the launch of three new funding opportunities within the 2018-19 Innovation Fund, with a total of £300,000 available.
Two specific Innovation Challenges will look to fund the testing and development of innovative new solutions to ‘wicked problems’ in the system. Additionally, a Workforce Innovation Call seeks applications for new products, services and practices that aim to improve the infrastructure, experience and outcomes of the Primary Care Workforce.
Innovation Challenge 1: New methods of training to equip health and social care staff with the practical skills needed for effective application of the Mental Capacity Act.
NHS Salford CCG are seeking innovators to:
- Develop and pilot a new method for the delivery of Mental Capacity Act training, which provides trainees with enhanced, experiential learning through realistic and interactive decision-making scenarios.
- NHS Salford CCG have a particular interest in applications that propose how technologies such as film, digital media and simulation could be utilised for a scalable and sustainable solution.
Innovation Challenge 2: Who’s doing what, and where, in Primary Care? Developing systems to map current roles and model the future workforce.
NHS Salford CCG are seeking innovators to:
- Develop and pilot an infrastructure for the measurement and mapping of workforce roles within Primary Care in Salford.
Workforce Innovation Call
Applications are sought which align to the following NHS Salford CCG strategy group innovation priorities for the Primary Care Workforce in Salford:
- Enabling and supporting joint working across health and social care services
- Quality Assurance
- Data systems and infrastructure
- Roles for AHPs and social care within primary care
- New roles to support capacity and transformation of primary care
- Developing primary care as a learning organization

Successful candidates will also need to be able to demonstrate that their submissions have relevance to, or impact on the Salford Locality Plan: Click here for further details.
Initial applications should be made via the application form and submitted to innovation.salfordccg@nhs.net. Applications will be assessed and scored.
Those shortlisted following initial application will be invited to present their proposals to an Innovation Fund Panel. This panel provides an independent and final review of all bids and will make a final decision. Please note that the decision of this panel is final and there are no mechanisms for appeal.
Please note funding will only be paid to organisations, not to individuals. Subject to due diligence, those that are successful will be notified in February 2019.
Please note that successful projects will need to formally start within March 2019, and be delivered within a 12-15 month timescale.
The Innovation Fund Locality Call for applications is open now. Applications must be submitted by 5pm on 8th February 2019.
