Job opportunity: Head of Business Development – Life Sciences

MIDAS, one of the UK’s most successful inward investment agencies; and Health Innovation Manchester (HInM), a recognised international leader in accelerating innovation that transforms citizens’ health and wellbeing; are seeking a new Head of Business Development for Life Sciences to join our high performing team to promote one of Europe’s leading business and life sciences clusters – Greater Manchester.
Greater Manchester’s unique and recently devolved healthcare system is one of the most exciting opportunities in global healthcare and in order to maximise its impact we are looking to attract some of the World’s most innovative companies to be part of this journey.
Although employed by MIDAS whose role it is to attract new business investment in to Greater Manchester, this role will be a joint role with HInM, who bring together basic research, translational research, clinical demand, and industry know-how and investment under a single umbrella.
The Head of Business Development will lead sales and promotion activity for the Life Sciences sector for MIDAS and HInM, both in the UK and overseas. With a particular focus on winning and securing foreign direct investment, you will be experienced in developing the whole sales process, from the utilisation of robust research and targeting techniques informing lead generation, to project management of sales enquiries and closing deals.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Life Sciences and a good understanding of business drivers within the industry. The role requires strong presentation skills, as well as experience of creating and writing professional client responses. You will possess strong strategic sales, negotiation and planning skills, as well as having Account Management experience.
You will have a proven track record of building relationships with C-Level individuals within multi-national companies in a B2B environment, where a consultative and knowledge based sales approach is required alongside excellent commercial acumen to identify new business and expansion opportunities.
With a good understanding of how marketing supports the sales process, you will work with marketing colleagues to devise ways of accessing clients through a number of channels, both direct and via the development of an intermediary network.

Salary: £62,000 to £75,000 per annum
