The Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC) Mental Health Research Domain, part of Health Innovation Manchester (HInM) are offering an opportunity to fund cross-discipline, multi-institution, research-led projects that have the potential to generate clinical impact and patient benefit. This opportunity follows the successful collaboration event that was held in September by the MAHSC Mental Health Research Domain.

The projects should focus on mental health and take into account the specific health needs of the Greater Manchester area, with a view to ongoing impact, publications, and securing further funding. Funding will be awarded up to £10,000 per project to a PI and team who are working in an established research institution or NHS in the GM Area.

The projects may include but are not limited to:

  • Studies to develop pilot data for external grant applications in mental health innovation
  • Projects to develop new technologies or systems
  • Projects to better understand mechanisms in mental health illness, and to inform new innovations.

For guidance, the mental health domain operates under these five themes:

  • Dementia
  • Self-harm
  • Physical health
  • Digital
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health

The awards may fund; staff salaries, project running costs, and equipment essential to the study/project and the grant duration is for 1 year.

Applications can be submitted to MAHSC@healthinnovationmanchester.com, or peter.mellor@healthinnovationmanchester.com with a closing date of 3rd January 2023 and a decision will be made on funding awards by 20th January 2023.
