NHS Reset: The race to systematise service innovation: how to make the changes in practice and mindset sustainable

Webinar

The pandemic has catalysed a dizzying array of new service innovations and products across the health and care sector. But how can we avoid waste in innovation, make the most of the expertise available, and produce solutions that can work across the patch – as well as figuring out what works, what doesn’t and why? Explore how to build and evaluate effective, scalable approaches at this interactive webinar on 9 September.

Professor Gary Ford, chief executive of the Oxford AHSN and Professor of Stroke Medicine at Oxford University will delve into the issues with Niall Dickson, chief executive of the NHS Confederation and Professor Mary Dixon-Woods, Health Foundation professor of improvement studies at Cambridge University and director of THIS Institute.

Get a fresh perspective on novel approaches to address the need to build and evaluate solutions at pace, take away practical advice on rapid evaluation and get to grips with the benefits for implementing and spreading innovation.

Gary Ford will focus on some key steps to avoid waste in research and innovation. “The starting point is that innovation must respond to the needs of the NHS – not the other way round,” he says. Innovators also have to make sure they can clearly articulate an evidence-based value proposition and the financial and workforce implications of their innovation – as well as having a clear plan for spread and adoption.

The event will be of particular interest to those leading local organisations and systems, as well as anyone with a remit for improving care and building on the beneficial changes emerging during COVID-19 nationally, regionally or locally.

This webinar forms part of our NHS Reset campaign strand on best practice and innovation, delivered in partnership with NHS Confederation and Health Foundation.
