Join us in a lecture series that celebrate MAHSC Honorary Clinical Chairs in Greater Manchester, hear their professional and personal journey, clinical and research areas, plans for the future with an opportunity to share your questions.
The MAHSC Honorary Clinical Chairs are awarded on an annual basis by The University of Manchester’s Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health Promotions Committee. They are awarded to individuals from across Greater Manchester who have made a major contribution to their clinical specialty, including excellence in research and education. There are now 86 MAHSC Honorary Clinical Chairs.

MAHSC Honorary Clinical Chair Inaugural Lectures featuring Professor Roisin Haslett, Regional Postgraduate Dean and Consultant in Intensive Care and Anaesthesia
Professor Roisin Haslett graduated with an MB ChB from Manchester University in 1989 before pursuing a career in anaesthesia. She was awarded the FRCA in 1995 and became a consultant in Intensive Care Medicine (ICM) and Anaesthesia at Salford Royal Foundation Trust in March 1999. She subsequently earned the FFICM in December 2012, became a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators in 2013, and completed a Diploma in Medical Education in 2015.
In 2016, Roisin was appointed Associate Dean for Health Education England – North West (HEE-NW) and became Deputy Dean in 2019. She commenced her role as North West Regional Postgraduate Dean for NHS England in January 2024.
Roisin has a longstanding interest in medical education, culminating in a master’s degree in Medical Education. Her dissertation explored the factors influencing female doctors’ decisions to pursue or reject a career in Intensive Care Medicine and how addressing these factors could enhance the speciality’s appeal to women.
Nationally, Roisin serves as the lead dean for Emergency Medicine and Psychiatry. She chairs the English Dean Leadership Leads Group and has a strong interest in medical workforce planning.
